The Story So Far

Born in America, California, and then moving to England at a young age. I’ve lived in Oxford almost all my life, finally heading off to Scotland for university when it came time.

I’ve always had a deep seated interest in how things work, and this has manifested itself in my my modelling and animation, I look at the world and wonder “How did they get that material to look like that?”, “How did they frame that photo that way?” or “Why did that game make me feel that way, how did they do that?”. It was this curiosity that drew me towards my degree choice of computer science, and the problem solving that it entails. Along this degree, I have used Haskell, Javascript and assembly, while being more fluent in Java, C#, C and Python.

In Regard to Games

For me it was the immersion that always drew me to games, the idea of a whole new world to explore and characters to meet, but as I matured it became the experiences that truly stuck with me, and I would constantly think, “how does this level, or this mechanic aid or cause this experience?” When I would design maps, or mechanics and items in my head, I would imagine how players would interact with them, and the memorable encounters I hope they would have.
